CAM Walker (Moon Boot) Hire Vs Buying

Should You Hire or Buy a Moon Boot?

A CAM Walker (commonly called a Moon Boot) is used to provide protection, support and assist in mobility while you recover from a foot or ankle injury.

Before deciding to hire or buy a boot, it's worth looking closely at a few important details:

  • Structure: The frame should be robust and stable. Avoid boots with cracked plastic or broken straps.
  • Inner Lining: You may be wearing the boot for several hours a day over many days. A fresh, clean lining is essential for both hygiene and comfort.
  • Wear & Tear: A very worn sole can change the way you walk and place unwanted pressure on the injured area, slowing your recovery.

If you decide to hire, remember you'll also need to return the boot once you're finished with it. This means extra time and organisation on top of your recovery.

With the cost of quality Moon Boots now relatively low, many people are better off buying their own rather than relying on a second-hand boot. You simply don't know how many people have used a hire boot before you, or what kind of wear it has already been through.

The best investment is an investment in yourself — including the equipment you rely on to recover properly.
